Each year, I select a Word of the Year to guide my personal and professional focus. As the Executive Director at Vitalia Solon, the start of a new year presents the perfect opportunity to reset, refocus, and prepare for the challenges and opportunities ahead. Reflecting on 2024, I am amazed by how much my Word of the Year influenced my growth and leadership journey.
My Word of the Year for 2024 was grit. Taking on the role of Executive Director in April 2024, I understood that this position would be both demanding and rewarding. Grit became my anchor as I showed up each day, faced challenges head-on, and dedicated myself to the success of the community.
This word guided my decisions, strengthened relationships, and supported my growth throughout the year. Pushing through tough times made the peaceful moments even sweeter. Grit also helped me maintain a positive attitude, fostering stronger and healthier relationships with staff and residents.
The lessons learned from grit will continue to influence my goals in 2025. This focus taught me the value of resilience and perseverance, but it also highlighted the importance of maintaining balance to avoid burnout.
For 2025, my Word of the Year is gratitude. While I will continue to carry myself with grit, my focus will shift to cultivating a mindset of thankfulness. Gratitude will help me maintain a healthier perspective, even during tough times, by recognizing the value of each experience.
By staying grateful each day, I aim to foster positivity, strengthen relationships, and create a supportive and thriving environment for our community. Gratitude will guide me in embracing both challenges and achievements with appreciation, ensuring a balanced and fulfilling year ahead.
As 2025 approaches, I reflect on the lessons of 2024 and look forward to stepping into a new chapter guided by gratitude. Choosing a Word of the Year isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about setting an intention and remaining open to the journey it inspires.
