Employee Feedback in Action: Building a Stronger Workplace Culture

Category: Uncategorized

Author: Kory Kerns, Business Office Director

One of the most valuable resources in any organization is not found in a report or spreadsheet. It is found in the feedback we receive from our team members. Employees are on the front lines every day. Because of that, they have unique insight into what is working well and where we can improve.

At Vitalia Solon, creating a culture where employees feel heard matters deeply. It helps improve retention, strengthen engagement, and support informed business decisions.

When employees know their opinions matter, they are more likely to feel valued and respected. They are also more likely to stay engaged in their work, take ownership, and remain committed to Vitalia Solon.

Employees who believe their voices are heard are more likely to stay. This can reduce turnover and help create a stable, positive workplace culture.

Learn how Vitalia Solon uses employee feedback, fun, connection, and trust to strengthen workplace culture and team engagement.

Building Engagement Through Fun and Trust

At Vitalia Solon, a positive workplace culture includes connection, celebration, and fun. Team members love to dress up, be silly, and enjoy meaningful moments together while working.

Connecting with employees on both a personal and professional level is an important part of engagement. These relationships help team members feel known, supported, and valued as people.

The team also believes it is okay to be a little goofy and have fun together. Those lighthearted moments can bring energy into the workday and help strengthen relationships across the community.

Trust is just as important. The management team focuses on showing up and following through on promises made to employees. That consistency helps maintain integrity and build confidence across the team.

Turning Feedback Into Action

Collecting feedback is only the first step. The real impact comes from taking action. Regular one-on-one conversations give team members a place to share their thoughts.

The annual Great Place to Work® Survey also provides helpful insight. By reviewing those results and following up consistently, we can better understand what employees need. We can also turn feedback into meaningful improvements.

I believe transparency builds trust. Even when every suggestion cannot be implemented, communication matters. It is important to explain the “why” behind decisions and speak openly with the team.

This time of year is when we begin planning for our 2027 Business Plan. I am excited to use employee feedback to help shape that plan. Their ideas will help us continue going far together as a team in 2027.

Every suggestion, concern, and idea is an opportunity to improve. Feedback helps us strengthen our workplace, support retention, and better serve our residents and team members.

As Business Office Director at Vitalia Solon, my goal is simple: Listen intentionally. Respond thoughtfully. Act consistently.
