As Culinary Director at Vitalia Solon, I approach each day with passion, not just purpose. I face new challenges, hear new stories, and find fresh reasons to feel grateful. I’m excited to share how I arrived in this role, what fuels my dedication, and what a typical day looks like in our community. My work goes far beyond preparing meals—it focuses on building connections, creating purpose, and making a real difference where it matters most.
I chose a culinary career in senior living because I deeply value the vibrant, welcoming environment that older adults create. Their presence adds warmth and meaning to every interaction. With over 25 years of culinary experience, I’ve developed the skills and perspective that now guide me each day at Arrow Senior Living.
What I love most about this industry is learning from the residents. Their unique stories and life lessons offer constant inspiration. These moments remind me that food is just one part of the bigger picture—we’re here to create joy, not just meals.
Each morning, I begin my day by visiting the dining area. I greet residents as they enjoy breakfast, and this early interaction sets a positive tone. It’s a habit I’ve kept since I was young and continues to ground my day in kindness and hospitality.
For anyone considering a culinary path in senior living, I highly recommend it. This field offers much more than just kitchen work—it gives you the opportunity to become part of a close-knit community. If you’re passionate about service and open to learning, you’ll find the work incredibly fulfilling.
To me, success means our residents are well-fed, content, and maybe even gaining a few pounds from enjoying our meals. That kind of satisfaction says more than any award or review ever could.
