As our homes go through the freeze and thaw cycles, it is important that we take valuable and proactive steps to prevent issues. Due to the tilt of the Earth’s axis, the northern hemisphere begins to see the winter-scape come back to life with daffodils blooming, grass greening, and temperatures warming during late March into early April. As exciting as that can be, so many things need to be done to prepare for the warmer season, including spring cleaning, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors tested, and filters changed.
To prepare for warmer weather, I wash windows, clean the outside grounds, test AC units for proper operation, and test window glides. This lets the sunshine in and allows the AC to work when it is really needed. We want the windows to work at the time we need them too. Cleaning the grounds from winter debris makes everything shine.
Making sure I’m on task with my budget and I’m physically ready for the warmer season tasks is important as well. I have a custom computer at home that I test vigorously for performance after taking it outside to clean down with an air compressor.
