Bringing Calm and Comfort to Families Who Need it Most.
We understand that picking the right environment for a loved one suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s is one of the most difficult decisions you can make. At VITALIA®, our staff trains with top dementia educators to provide the highest quality personalized care so you can set aside being a primary caregiver and start to be family again. By focusing on dignity, quality of life, and independence, we strive to ensure all residents feel respected and cared for as they age, regardless of what they remember today or tomorrow.
Memory Care Apartments
Memory Care at VITALIA® consists of finding the right balance between residents having a private space to call their own and participating in daily activities throughout the community. Memory Care apartments were designed so residents can safely and easily find the necessities of life without trouble.
Assigned Life Enrichment Coordinators
We believe that quality care begins with strong relationships. That’s why we pair life enrichment coordinators and residents as a team – so personalized bonds of trust and friendship can be developed over time. By interacting with the same set of residents consistently, we are able to focus on developing communication skills unique to each resident and strive to identify small changes in health and wellness.
Security isn’t restriction. Safety isn’t constant monitoring. This is a resident’s home and they need to be comfortable and cared for without feeling like Big Brother is always watching them. We make every effort to integrate resident safety in discreet ways. The design of the memory care cottage focuses not just on comfort and ease of navigation, but on security.
Life Stations™ are specialized activity stations that are positioned strategically throughout our memory care cottage. These stations are designed to resemble important aspects of life and prompt resident engagement and foster a sense of purpose.
Sometimes it feels like seniors who suffer from memory loss cannot engage in meaningful activity. At VITALIA®, we believe exactly the opposite. It may take time and effort, but one of our core goals is to get residents engaged and active in their own ways.
Alzheimer’s and dementia can have a devastating effect on the diet of a senior. This, of course, only exacerbates the situation. But VITALIA® has developed a dining program that excites the senses and rouses the appetite, getting residents excited for their meal so they receive the nutrition and nourishment they need. A robust dining plan is at the core of all our memory care plans.
Alzheimer’s and other dementias can make once automatic grooming habits seem impossible. Residents at VITALIA® receive daily attention in this area, as well as regular trips to our salon. We want to ensure that they always feel presentable and proud of their appearance.
Caring for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s is a highly specialized skill requiring training through the best courses in empathy, communication, and personal care. At VITALIA®, we go well above basic training by insisting on continuing education using the best practices and specialized advanced courses.
The memory care leadership at VITALIA® is selected because of their knowledge base, interpersonal capabilities, and heart. They are equipped with the most up-to-date knowledge and proven effective techniques, not to mention a drive to care for those in need.
